New Batman film gets name, villain update and more

Batman 3 is now officially ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Christopher Nolan has finally thrown us fanboys a few bones as it pertains to the new Batman movie. The movie is now known as ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ This title seems to insinuate that the movie will focus on the victory Batman will have in restoring saftey to Gotham. With this being Nolan’s last Batman film, and the final film in his Batman trilogy it seems to be a fitting title.

There is also some juicy villain news from The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan has made it official that The Riddler will not be in this installment.

Word is that Nolan is casting a female lead role, so that leads me to think he is casting a woman for this film’s villain. I would love to see Ra’s Al Ghul’s daughter Talia as Batman’s foil but Catwoman is another strong choice.

Tom Hardy(from Nolan’s ‘Inception’) has been given a role in The Dark Knight Rises, but its unclear on what character he will be playing. He could play a villain like Killer Croc or a replacement for Harvey Dent as Gotham’s new District Attorney.

The last little tidbit of news is that Nolan has convinced Warner Brothers to not shoot the film in 3D.

I would have to say that 3D is a gimmick that really only works with CGI movies. I haven’t seen a live action yet that would make it a marketable investment for a cinematic experience.

Doesn’t this title seem more like a porn spoof of Batman?

Studio execs are often clueless when it comes to Superhero movies, Im happy Nolan had enough sense to know to stay away from 3D. The title does seem a little sexually charged, maybe Bruce will actually get laid in this movie
